Smooth sailing at Nelson Red Cross Blood Drive

September 14, 2022

The Red Cross Bloodmobile arrived in Nelson early Friday morning, for the regular blood drive. The day ran smoothly this time.  No one had to wait more than a couple minutes.  Since the Red Cross lifted all of their restrictions, everyone was able to enjoy a full lunch with coffee after their donation, thanks to the Nelson PEO Ladies.  We’re back to the way things were before COVID-19!

The collection came up a little short of meeting the goal again, mainly because several that weren’t quite eligible because of the dates and number of times they can donate each given year. However, 52 units were collected which can help save as many as three lives with each donation.

Honorable Mention Donors this time are:  Janet Creps for her First Donation.

Marlin Myer for reaching his 17 gallon mark!  Wow! That’s 136 donations!

Chris Hansen and Jenell Wood have now given 13 gallons each.

Tammy Frahm has reached her 7 gallon mark.

Royce Gonzales is now a 6 gallon donor.

Dale Endorf is now a 5 gallon donor and Kara Kliewer has now reached her first gallon mark.

Other donors were: Tom Bargen, Diane Gebers, Ken Himmelberg, Jerry Bargen, Ron Fryda, Ramon Otero, Ivalee Jacobitz, Linda Shrauger,  Mary Statz, Terri Oltmans, Jan Menke, Betty McCutchan, Max VanSkiver, Kevin Stout, Craig Cox, Marcia Schultz, Taylor W. Hackett, Sandra Schendt, Alfred Hanson, Brad Bargen, Wayne Peterson, Trish Honeycutt, Jodene Clabaugh, Brenda Schott, James McClure, Sally Uhrmacher, Susan Rogers, Joe Mazour, Teresa Walton, James Farmer, Tim Crowl, Sally F. Drudik, Lyle Meyer, Tammy Gehle, Kayla Sole, Caren Musser, Wylie Jensen and Theresa Shipley.

All the donations are appreciated. It is hoped to see everyone in 8 weeks, when they will again be eligible to donate, on Friday, Nov. 4.

Power Red donors can save the Jan. 24, 2023 date for their next eligible donation date, when the Red Cross is back in Nelson.

Schedule appointments online at http://www.redcrossblood.org. Or Sally Uhrmacher will call when it gets closer to the date.
