L-N football extends win streak to three

The Lawrence-Nelson High School football team keeps on rolling as they picked up win number four of the season as they declawed the Axtell Wildcats 52-22 at Lawrence, Friday. The win extended the Raiders winning streak to three games.

Krayton Kucera aired it out with 23 completions for his 31 passing attempts. He was good for 298 yards, a touchdown pass and four two-point conversion passes.

Tyson Kotinek snagged 11 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown. He caught three-two-point conversions. Erik Wheeland nabbed five passes for 81 yards. He added a two-point conversion reception. Bayln Bargen picked up four receptions for 78 yards. Toby Kotinek pulled in two passes for 20 yards.

Baylin Bargen (15) is far from the largest player for the Raiders this season. However, he seems to have a way around the football field. Above, he high-steps over an Extell defender. Baylin had 37 yards in rushing offense in the game and caught four passes for an additional 81 yards.

Kucera gained 101 yards with his 17 carries. He scored four touchdowns on the ground as well as a two-point rushing conversion. Toby Kotinek covered 143 yards with his 14 carries. He scored three touchdowns on the ground. Bargen picked up 37 yards on three rushes. Devyn Zikmund had a negative three yards with his two carries. Connor Janda netted 10 yards with his three carries. Cody Funk was good for five yards with his two carries.


Kucera was all over the field on the defensive side of the ball with his seven solo tackles and four assisted tackles. Janda and D. Zikmund accounted for four solo tackles and Bargen added four solo tackles and one assisted tackle. D. Zikmund had five assisted tackles while Janda added three assists. Roy Davidson contributed three solo tackles and five assisted tackles. Tyson Kotinek and Keaton Mazour nailed down three solo shots and had two assists apiece. Wyatt Hajny and Toby Kotinek collected two solo tackles and an assisted tackle each. Nolan Ostdiek accounted for two solo tackles and four assisted tackles. Clay Williams stepped in with two solo tackles. Williams intercepted an Axtell pass. Janda recovered an Axtell fumble. Riley Cannaday, Caden Culbertson, AJ Koehler and Aidan Zikmund each grabbed a solo tackle. Rocky Miller had two assisted tackles. Funk had an assisted tackle.


The Raiders face their toughest test of the season when they take on the 5-0 Kenesaw Blue Devils at Kenesaw Friday. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
