Ute still needs volunteers

The Jewell County Cinema, Inc. Board met on Monday, Sept. 26. The meeting was held by Zoom and in person at the Mankato Christian Church and was called to order by Thadd Hinkle. Members present were Thadd Hinkle, Phyllis Christie, Janis McDill, Virgil and Linda Jones, in person, and by Zoom were Lisa Goodheart and Kristin Underwood.

The minutes of the June meeting were accepted as presented. Janis McDill presented the treasurer’s report.

Thadd Hinkle said the marquee neon has been repaired. Sonic performed the yearly system check and fixed the speaker buzz. Phyllis Christie said the Cashway bill will now be automatically debited. She would like to see more people trained to sell tickets and run the projector. More volunteers are needed to run the theater.

Virgil Jones mentioned different ways people can donate to the theater, including contributing an IRA distribution directly to Jewell County Cinema, Inc. Discussion was held on upcoming movies. “Easter Sunday” was shown Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and 2. Janis McDill is trying to get the movie “Lifemark.” Movie-goers need to be reminded the movie actually starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. The previews are shown prior to those starting times. Contact Phyllis if you are interested in volunteering.

The meeting was adjourned and the next meeting will be Oct. 31.

“Lifemark” will be shown on Oct. 7, 8 and 9.
