L-N volleyball goes 2-1 for the week

The Lawrence-Nelson volleyball team continued their slog through their punishing schedule with a 2-1 record for the week.

The Raiders topped the Blue Hill Bobcats at Nelson, It took four sets, 13-25, 25-23, 25-16 and 25-19. last Tuesday The team participated in the Twin Valley Conference Tournament at Kenesaw Saturday The Raiders handled Blue Hill in two sets, 25-19 and 25-15. Host Kenesaw needed three sets, 25-12, 20-25 and 23-25, to put away Lawrence-Nelson. The Raiders closed out their regular season schedule Tuesday with a match against Franklin, at Franklin. sub-district play lies ahead.

Sydney Biltoft was the lead killer against Blue Hill with eight. Kara Menke and Hanna Skinner notched seven kills each. Katelyn Mazour and Emily Troudt were good for six kills apiece. Claire Himmelberg tallied four kills.Biltoft, Menke Skinner and Troudt each scored with an ace. Himmelberg and Mazour landed 18 digs each. Skinner put away nine digs. Addi McCloskey collected eight digs. Jessica Sole handled seven digs. Biltoft had three digs while Troudt had one.

Mazour topped the kill chart against Blue Hill in the reamatch with five, Menke held on with four kills. Biltoft, Skinner and Troudt accounted for three kills each. Himmelberg netted two kills. Biltoft sliced through two aces. Skinner scorched through an ace. Skinner listed 11 digs for the match. Mazour lifted up nine digs. McCloskey and Sole were good for eight digs apiece. Menke had six digs. Troudt added four digs. Himmelberg put up three digs. Biltofy finished with one dig.

Menke pounded down 14 kills against Kenesaw. Biltoft and Troudt spiked down five kills. Himmelberg struck with four kills. Skinner jumped in with three kills. Mazour added two kills. Mazour sliced through two aces. Biltoft, Himmelberg, Sole and Troudt each scored with an ace. Biltoft hit the floor for 20 digs. Skinner finished with 15 digs. Menke closed out with nine digs. Troudt had eight digs. McCloskey handled seven digs. Himmelberg and Sole collected five digs each. Biltoft had a dig.

The Raiders have a favorable path through the sub-district round. They are grouped in sub-district D-2. The other teams are Franklin (3-22), Giltner (8-20), Harvard (2-26),and Wilcox-Hildreh (6-19). The Raiders can can continue the magic in district play as they should be competitive for a berth at the state tournamant. Play their best and the rewards will come. Play open Monday with the finals being played on Tuesday. Opponents and sites are unavailable at press time.
