Nelson Legion sponsors 'Trunk-O-Treat'

November 3, 2022

Rayla Delong was one of nearly 100 trick or treaters who took park in Nelson's Trunk or Treat, Saturday afternoon.

The Nelson American Legion sponsored its first-ever 'Trunk or Treat' Saturday. For this event, people parked their cars and decorated their trunks. Children then went from car to car, picking up their goodies rather than going door to door. These events are often held a few days before Halloween on the weekend. The event was successful, with more than 16 trunks and nearly 100 trick-or-treaters attending.

Trunk-or-treat has become a popular spin on the traditional 'trick-or-treat' over the past years. Initially it was started by church groups to provide a safe environment for trick-or-treaters on Halloween. Trunk or treat events are a fun way to bring the community together to celebrate the holiday.

The event planner hopes to continue the tradition and add more fun events to the day.

Eric and Chelsey Seamann set up decorations for Nelsons Trunk or Treat. The event was sponsored by the Nelson American Legion, Legion Sons and Auxiliary.
