Accident claims one life

We have been unable to obtain an official accident report but one Jewell County resident is dead and another hospitalized in Kearney following a two-vehicle accident which happened Friday at a Highway 128 intersection near the Kyle Railroad crossing south of Burr Oak.

A 24-year-old Mankato resident, Jacob Nance, died at the accident scene.

A Burr Oak resident, Dan Garman, was flown to a Kearney hospital where he apparently is being treated for multiple injuries including head trauma and was placed in an induced coma.

The Nance vehicle was apparently traveling on the county road, failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the side of the Garman vehicle.

The Nance body was taken to the Melby Mortuary where funeral arrangements are pending.
