Ute Theatre needs more volunteers

The Jewell County Cinema, Inc (JCCI) Board met Oct. 24. The meeting was held by ZOOM and in person at the Mankato Christian Church and was called to order by Thadd Hinkle.

Members present were Thadd Hinkle, Phyllis Christie, Janis McDill, Virgil and Linda Jones, Sarah Ortman and Janelle Greene in person. Lisa Goodheart and Kristin Underwood attended by ZOOM.

The minutes of the September meeting were accepted as presented. Janis McDill presented the treasurer’s report, stating the theater lost $731 in October.

In old business, Thadd Hinkle said he used the closed caption option on “The Woman King” and thought that went well. Phyllis Christie said she has been contacted by a couple of new volunteers and will train them. More volunteers are needed to run the theater.

In new business, the upcoming movies are “Beetlejuice” Oct. 28-30 and “Lyle, Lyle Crocodile” Nov. 4-6. Janis McDill is working to get “Black Adam,” “Ticket to Paradise” and “Paul’s Promise.” Discussion was held on the new Avatar movie. There have been several years between the original movie and the sequel, so it was thought it would be good to show the original movie one weekend and the sequel the following weekend. Sarah Ortman said the elementary school would like to schedule a movie for Christmas break. Contact Phyllis Christie if you are interested in volunteering!

The next meeting will be Nov. 28.
