Fire hydrants in Jewell are needing flushed

The Jewell City Council met Monday, Oct. 3, at City Hall. Those in attendance were council members Josh Burks, Max Burks, Gaye Daniels, Bob Freeman, Derek Birdsell and city clerk Kristie Anderson.

Sheriff Don Jacobs was present and reported a resident’s shed was broken into a while back. Jacobs said they had two new deputies.

James Reed, code enforcement officer, presented the monthly report. Reed continues to work with property owners to abate nuisances.

Kristie Anderson presented the monthly clerk’s report. Anderson gave an update on the community center and motel reservation for the month of October. Anderson said the city is taking a resident to court on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Anderson talked about ordering dog tags for next year tags.

David Knappert presented the monthly maintenance report.He reported on the projects he is currently workin. Knappert is working on filling the crack on Broadway Street. He said the fire hydrants in town are needing flushed out for this year.


Land Bank Board provided the minutes from their last meeting.

Josh Burks is getting a quote for the sidewalk repair north east side of the park.

It was moved and seconded to approve the building permit for Jon Hajny. Daryl Cockroft’s domestic animal permit was approved. The council approved the fire truck loan payment. The fire department’s CMB special event application was approved.
