Violet Ferebee

Violet Wilma (Lang) Ferebee, 94, the daughter of William H. and Emma (Tonns) Lang, was born Aug. 31, 1928, on a farm in Nuckolls County, near Nelson. She died Nov. 12, 2022, at the home of her daughter near Fremont.

Violet attended Grand Prairie country school and graduated from the Nelson High School with the Class of 1945. After graduation from high school, she taught at District 84 country school in Nuckolls County for three years. She married Gene Ferebee on Jan. 23, 1949, and she became a full time farm wife and mother to their three children. They farmed initially north of Nelson and in 1958, moved to a farm south of Sedan and in 1965, they moved to the current farm northwest of Oak.

She enjoyed her family as well as being outdoors helping on the farm, tending to livestock, raising a large garden and in later years her flowers beds. She was a lifelong Nuckolls County resident.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Gene; and her brothers, Raymond and LeRoy.

Survivors include sons, John Ferebee of Oak; George Ferebee of Edgar; daughter, Gwen Oltmanns of Fremont; her grandchildren and step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three step-great granddaughters; two step-great grandsons, four step-great-great grandchildren; sister, Irene Anderson of Lincoln, Neb.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Williams Funeral Home in Edgar. Interment will be in the Nelson Cemetery.
