County places order for new backhoe

Nuckolls County Board

The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county courthouse in Nelson, Monday. All three commissioners were present.

The county road department asked the board that their request for three stop sign locations be approved. The board is expected to approve a resolution at their next meeting to allow the signs to be installed.The signs will be installed at the east and west corners of Road Q and 2899, L and 3100 and K and 4700.

The road department opened bids for new or slightly used tractor with a front end loader and backhoe.Bids were received from three companies. Titan machinery, Hastings, entered bids for Case 580SN and 590SN models. They were both new models. The bid offered a $38,000 trade-in allowance . The 580 price was $79,000 with immediate delivery. The 590 was $94,000 with a May, 2023 delivery date. The models came with a two year or 2,000 hour warranty. Murphy Tractor and Equipment Compay, Grand Island, submitted a bid for a John Deere 320P. They offered a $30,000 trade-in allowance. The price was $119,900 with a five year warranty and an April or May, 2023 delivery date. Superior Implement entered bids for a JCB 4CX14 and a JCB 3CX14. They did not offer a trade-in credit.They bid $162,623 for a JCB 4CX and $141,568 for a JCB 3CX.The commissioners, on a unnanimous vote, accepted the bid from Murphy Tractor.

Tom Kruger, the county surveyor, advised the commissioners he would not seek reappointment. He offered the board two suggestions. Other applicants are encouraged to apply for the position which will be appointed in January.

The board approved the use of a dumpster at the courthouse.

The courthouse will be closed today (Thursday) and Friday for Thanksgiving. Regular hours resume Monday.
