Tuesday, Nov. 15, found approximately 50 people congregating at the Nelson Community Center to enjoy fellowship and good food. The dinner was open to everyone. The turkey, dressing, potatoes and gravy, rolls and drinks were furnished by the Senior Citizens. Those coming for the dinner brought salad, vegetable or dessert dishes. What a great assortment of food!
The Lost Needle Quilting Club organized the dinner as well as cooking and serving the food. The tables were decorated in a beautiful Thanksgiving theme. This event has been a tradition started by the Senior Citizen group quite a number of years ago and passed on down to the quilting women. The past two years COVID was prevalent so it was not held. It was good to get the dinner going again this year and the quilters hope to continue.
Pastor Ethan Feistner of Heartland Shared Ministries, led the table grace. Then good small town fellowship and wonderful food was enjoyed. The building was “a buzzing” as everyone visited and renewed acquaintances. It was especially good to have some new residents come. The more the merrier! Playing cards eventually came out and a couple tables of people stayed and played pitch in the afternoon.
The dinner is open to everyone, not just the retired citizens. It is always planned for noon so working people can participate. Next year it is hoped more will attend.
