Twila Berry

Twila Mae Berry, the daughter of Elmer and Vergie (Johnston) Howe, was born on April 2, 1941, in Summerfield, Kansas. She died on November 14, 2022, at her home in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 81 years, 7 months, 12 days.

Twila graduated from the 8th grade at Webber, Kansas, and was a Superior High School graduate with the Class of 1959. She was baptized and a member of the Webber United Methodist Church.

After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator. Twila married Elwin Dunbar and to this union a daughter, Deborah, was born. Lee joined the family six years later. They later divorced.

Twila moved to York, Neb., and worked as a waitress where she met John Berry. They were married on Sept. 28, 1971, at Goehner, Neb. The couple first farmed near York and later moved to St. Paul, Neb., where she became a beautician and owned the Dorothy Lynch Beauty Shop. She and John then formed a truck driving team for Seward Motor Freight for 10 years, until John's illness and his death on Aug. 14, 2006. She then made Superior her home.

She adopted two white Westies (Buddy and Sissy) who she adored and kept her busy. She liked working at Nifty Thrifty and took up golfing. As her brother, Wayne said,"She lived her whole life, dancing, like no one was watching."

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Vergie; husband, John; and a grandson, Arlo Dillenburg.

Those left to mourn her passing is her daughter, Deborah (Tom) Hanley of Vermont, son, Lee Dunbar of Superior; three grandchildren, Adron Dillenburg, Sebastian and Alexandra Dunbar; step-daughter, Kellie (Ralph) Hert of Arkansas; step-son, Daniel Berry (Lori) of Georgia; four step- grandchildren. Teghan Hert, John, Brooke and Bailey Berry; siblings, Ruby Burge, Rich (Barb) Howe all of Superior; Wayne (Pat) Howe of Olathe, Kan., and Donna (Mark) Jurgena of Nelson, Neb .; other relatives and a host of friends.

Per Twila's wishes, no funeral service is planned at this time.

Memorials are suggested to go to the family.
