I’m finding fast as we age, our memory just isn’t like it used to be. It’s tempting when a person reads about all the pills that if taken can improve the memory. I never seem to follow through with purchasing them though. When I see some of the things those pills are made out of, I lose interest. A while back a dear friend gave me a small statuette of two angels standing close together. Written across their robes was the saying, “We’ll be friends until we’re old and senile...then we’ll be New friends!” Now that’s an idea.

There are those days when it might take my husband and me two or three hours to come up with a name of a person that we should know the name right off the top of our heads. Then there are the times when I walk into a room knowing that I am looking for something but right then, I just can’t think of what it is was I was hunting for. I make sure to list all our special events and appointments on our desk calendar.

It seems as we get older three things happen. The first is your memory goes. I can’t remember the other two things. I read a post on social media that seemed to fit me as I sometimes have a hard time falling to sleep some nights. It read, “My bed is a magical place where I suddenly remember everything I forgot to do.”

Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not over the hill yet with my memory. I often say to myself that everyday is a new beginning. Take a deep breath, smile and start again. Hopefully tomorrow, I’ll remember where I put my spare pair of eye glasses.
