City of Mankato welcomes new city office employee

Angie Brown, the new face you will see if you go into the Mankato City Office, is from Arvada, Colorado. She has lived in Jewell County since 2008.

Brown and her husband of 13 years chose Jewell County as their home. Their rental in Lebanon was for sale. The first house Brown and her husband liked when looking for a different home was located in Mankato.

Brown met her husband when they worked at Petersons Industries in Smith Center. Brown is a writer. She also enjoys baking, reading and time in the outdoors doing things like fishing, camping and hiking.

Brown attended school at Metropolitan State College of Denver where she studied speech and language pathology. Before she started working at the city office, Brown worked as a bank teller, with new accounts and CDs in the banking industry. She worked in banking for the last 13 years. Brown was inspired to work at the city, where she is responsible for customer service, billing and filing, because she was ready to start a new chapter in her life that would provide her with more opportunity and less travel.

Brown was raised in a suburb of Denver, so the quiet, simple life Mankato offers is her favorite part of living in Jewell County. Things Brown is looking forward to most are having more quality time with her family and working on fixing up her house.

Brown provides this advice to the reader, "Don't be afraid to try something new."
