Christopher Stocker

Christopher J. Stocker, 50, the son of Kathy (Disney) and James D. Stocker, was born Aug. 11, 1972, at Omaha. He died Sunday at the Webster County Community Hospital in Red Cloud.

Chris grew up in the Superior community and received his formal education attending the Superior schools, graduating with the Class of 1990. Chris then worked at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital with the nursing and physical therapy departments.

He was united in marriage with Tracy Frey. This union was blessed with four daughters They moved to Sabetha, Kansas and Chris was employed with Lakeside Terrace. After moving to Alma, Kansas, he was employed at the Wamego City Hospital as an aide, then as an LPN after finishing studies in 1997. Chris later worked at Manhattan Medical Supply in Manhattan, Kansas, and Select Speciality Hospital in Topeka. He also worked in a number of LPN positions at various nursing homes and for people who needed nursing assistance in their homes.

He was diagnosed in 1994 with multiple sclerosis and retired because of his disability in 2005. That same year they moved to Red Cloud to make their home. The marriage ended in divorce in 2022.

Chris was an active member of the Red Cloud Wesleyan Church where he participated in the church’s musical group playing his guitar. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son and friend.

Preceding him in death was his brother, Ryan Stocker.

Survivors include his children, Mackenzie Russell, Madison Painter, Bethany Stocker and Brenna Stocker; two grandchildren; his mother, Kathy Carpenter of Sabetha, Kansas; and his father, James Stocker of Merriam Woods, Missouri.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the Rev. Dan Benedict officiating.
