Lew Hunter

Lew Hunter, a widely known Superior connection to the Hollywood entertainment community, died Friday morning.

Hunter, 87, had been in declining health and COVID is thought to have been a contributing cause of death. At the time of his death, he was staying in an assisted living facility in Arizona and under hospice care.

The Express spoke with his widow, Pamela, on Tuesday morning and learned all members of his family living in that area had been diagnosed this week with COVID.

Their illness has delayed funeral plans.

But the tentative plan calls for his cremation. The cremains will then be returned to Superior where a celebration of life is planned for Memorial Weekend.

There likely will be a private service for family members at the Day House. This will be followed by a street dance open to the general public. A grandson has a band and that band is expected to play for the dance.

However, a number of details are to be worked out once family members are feeling better and they have time to consult with officials here.

Pam said they chose Memorial Weekend as a number of family members always return to the Superior area to take part in the Memorial Weekend activities.
