USD 107 Board hears overview of Crisis Response

USD 107 Board of Education held a special meeting Monday at 8 a.m. The meeting was called to order by Kenny Mizner. Those present were, Kenny Mizner, Marc Grout, Brenden Wirth, Wayne Frost (Zoom), Justin Angleton, Brandon Hollerich, Bobi Fogo, Rex Boley, Sam Meyers, Cassi Bozarth, Janet Higer and Darrell Miller.

Regarding Crisis Response, Mr. Boley gave an overview of the Jan. 13 incident and how the district handled it. He reported outside counselors, pastors and other local support was brought in. The district was offered support from neighboring districts up to an hour away. News media requests were received and Mr. Boley responded to those with a statement via email. He pointed out the need to continue to support students and staff. He will put together a list of resources for that purpose.

The board went into executive session with Mr. Boley, Mr. Meyers and Mr. Miller present to discuss confidential student information pursuant to the exception relating to actions adversely or favorably affecting a student under KOMA.


It was approved that the KASB attorney be added to the January list of approved hearing and appeal officers relating to student discipline.

The board went into executive session with Mr. Boley and Mr. Miller present to discuss legal matters pursuant to the attorney-client privilege exception under KOMA.

When the open meeting resumed, the board adjourned the meeting.

The next regular meeting of the USD 107 Board of Education will be at 7 p.m., Feb. 13 in the board room of the district office.
