44 members attend Jewell Chamber of Commerce meeting

Jewell Chamber of Commerce hold February meeting

The February meeting of the Jewell Chamber of Commerce was held on Monday, Feb. 13, in the Jewell Community Center. Forty-four members attended the meeting. Pastor Dan Daniels began the meeting by blessing the meal.

The program was provided by Jada Eilert, a junior at Rock Hills High School. Jada played the piano solo, Solfeggietto by C. P. E. Bach. She performed the piece at the state piano contest on Saturday. Jada is the daughter of Jason and Jessie Eilert of Jewell.

Derek Nutter was recognized for earning his Kansas assistant funeral director’s license. Steve Robbins was recognized and thanked for making and donating a table podium to the Chamber of Commerce.

Several fundraisers were discussed during the meeting. Among them were – a noon meal the Saturday of Memorial Weekend, a no-bake bake sale in conjunction with Double Match Month, “I Found a Buffalo in Jewell” T-shirt sales and a pancake and sausage meal.


In other business, Gaye Daniels discussed new flooring in the community center and noted it was the result of city funds and Dane G. Hansen grants.  Becky Loomis reported there will be 11 buffalo statues in Jewell. Matt Homelvig will be painting the Chamber of Commerce’s buffalo. 

The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, March 13, in the Jewell Community Center.
