Superior seeking $433,000 park grant

In a follow up to the parks and recreation study completed last year for the City of Superior, 5 Rule Planning of Kearney is now preparing an application requesting a grant which would help finance some of the improvements identified by the study. The application will request a Community Economic Development Grant in the amount of $433,000 from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.

A public notice published in this issue of The Express informs the citizens of Superior that a public hearing will be held to consider the grant application when the city council meets at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in the city administration building on West Fourth Street.

Projects that may be funded by the grant if awarded include a walking path, splash pad, basketball court and associated facilities.

Of the amount requested $400,000 will be for actual construction. The balance will be for administration and supervision of the grant implementation.

If awarded, the city must contribute an additional $100,000.

The grant application is available for public inspection at the city office.
