March 16, 2023

Lois Ann (Claycamp) Blass, the eldest of six children, was born to Emil and Inez (Diers) Claycamp on Jan. 16, 1934, in Hunter, Kansas. She died at her home on March 7, 2023 at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 19 days. She was looking forward to joining her husband, children and other family member in God's kingdom.

On Nov. 8, 1950, she was united in marriage with Jim Blass. Seven children were born to this union, Terry, Pat, Mike, Brenda, Barb, Joe and George.

Lois worked outside the home as well as being a dedicated wife and mother. Lois was a friend to everyone. She was patient with lots of good advice.

She was the glue that held the family together. She made sure her family would eat, play and laugh together. Lois enjoyed getting the family together for reunions. She made sure there was plenty of good food, as she was an excellent cook.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Blass; her parents, Emil and Inez Claycamp; her siblings, Kathy Rines, Wilbur Claycamp, Louella Brunner and Darrell Claycamp; daughter, Pat Weidenhaft; son, George Blass; grandson, Tanner Blass; and infant granddaughter, Mulder.

Lois is survived by her children, Terry (Dan) Mulder of Phillipsburg; son-in-law, Joe Weidenhaft of Stockton; Mike (Chris) Blass of Beloit; Brenda (Jim) Tietjens of Glen Elder; Barb (Bob) Broughton of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Joe (Von) Blass of Santee, California; sister, Leota (Bill) McCarthy of Manhattan; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

She would want her funeral to be a celebration of her life, not sorrow for her death.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 17 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m., today (Thursday) at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Mitchell County Food Pantry or the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, Roberts Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
