Grandson killed by hit and run driver in Lincoln

A 27-year-old Lincoln woman has been accused of running over and killing two maintenance workers at her south Lincoln apartment complex and allegedly tried to kill a third man, Robert Sargeant. One of the dead, Christopher Karmazin, 42, has ties to Nuckolls County.

His father, Darold Karmazin was raised in Superior and his mother, Serita (Jensen) Karmazin, at Hardy.

The Omaha World-Herald reported it is alleged Taylor Bradley drove her Subaru sedan off the roadway and into a grassy area near The Lodge apartments' clubhouse. On the lawn she ran over the two men 20 to 30 yards from the street. The two men, Ronald Gonzales-Rivas, 45, and Karmazin, were both longtime employees of the company which manages the apartment complex.

Bradley has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, three counts of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, one count of attempting to kill Roeber Sargeant purposefully and with domesticated and premeditated malice. If convicted, she could be ordered to spend life in prison.

Bradley's bail was set at $2 million with at least $200,000 to paid before she is released.

Lincoln Police Chief Teresa Edwins described the attack as "purposeful" and said it was carried out with "intent."

In the affidavit for Bradley's arrest, officers responding to the crash were reported to have encountered Bradley traveling toward them in her damaged sedan, stopped the vehicle and took her into custody.

Tom Huston, who serves as general counsel for the firm which manages The Lodge, said Bradley was in the first year of her lease and had no prior negative contact with the management staff. "There wasn't a service call, she was not being evicted."

In an outburst at her preliminary hearing, Bradley told the court she previously had a shoplifting charge but nothing else on her record. She also said "I am on drugs. They think I'm on so many drugs, because they stocked me full of all my mom's drugs."
