Hope Ehlers

Edith Hope (Mullins) Ehlers, the daughter of William Joseph and Beulah Opal (Paul) Mullins, was born on June 6, 1929, in Superior, Nebraska. She died March 30, 2023, at the Superior Good Samaritan Society at the age of 93 years, 9 months, 24 days.

Hope grew up south of Superior on the Mullins Dairy Farm where she helped with the daily operations of the farm. She attended Valley View country school and was a 1947 graduate of Superior High School. While in high school, she played the trumpet and enjoyed many hours roller skating. She met Orrin Ehlers while he was employed by Mullins Dairy. They were married on Jan. 24, 1950, in Nelson, Nebraska. This union was blessed with six sons and five daughters.

Hope lived her life on the farm till she moved into Superior in 2019 and entered the nursing home in 2022. Her life on the farm was spent gardening and preserving her harvest, caring for the animals, sewing, knitting, embroidery and many other crafts. Family was important to her and she enjoyed cooking for her large family on most Sundays. She and Orrin went on many vacations and traveled to family reunions together.

Hope was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orrin on July 2, 2006; brother, Lyle Mullins; and son-in-law, Bob Morgan.

Survivors include her children: Dale (Betty) of Marion, Kansas, Jaquetta Morgan of Lincoln, Nebraska, Dean (Janice) of Superior, Darwin of Webber, Kansas, Delton of Superior, Dalane (Rose) of Superior, Jalonda (Brad) Bouray of Courtland, Kansas, Jarinda (Mark) Sudbeck of Fordyce, Nebraska, Janetta (Dave) Rogers of Wilber, Nebraska, Jaletta (Scott) Nondorf of Superior, Davon (Tori) of Superior, and Nona (Don) Payne of Minden Ontario, Canada; 27 grandchildren: Matt (Angie) Ehlers, Stephanie (Todd) Ehlers-Pickering, Derrick (Shannon) Ehlers, Ben (Jenny Kumpula) Morgan, Andy Morgan, Dana (Chad Packer) Ehlers-Schwisow, Lexi (Nate) Ehlers-Saathoff, Jerred (Chrissy) Ehlers, Nathan Ehlers, Alayna Ehlers, Darrin (Mel Farnsworth) Bouray, Kyle Bouray, Kelby (Cortney Cooper) Sudbeck, Keenan Sudbeck, Kraig (Samantha Sears) Sudbeck, Brooke (Blair) Rogers-Page, Katelin (Kyle) Rogers-Mays, Grant (Alicia Spencer) Rogers, Austin (fiancé, Tierra Snyder) Nondorf, Catera (Jacob) Nondorf-Dietrich, Matraca Nondorf, Cameron Ehlers, Leah Ehlers, Ann Marie Payne, Jennifer (Doug) Payne-Brittan, Heather (Chris) Payne-Mills and James Payne; 39 great-grandchildren: Morgan (Thomas), Cole (Hannah), Lane and Mekenzie (Conray), Olivia, Ian, Ella, Whitney, Tia, Lorna, Makiya, Madeleine, Hunter, McKenna, Kahne, Knox, Rowan, Cooper, Kip, Rikki, Jayden, Kyson, Brooks, Bentley, Kallie, Rhett, Kimbree, Layla, William, David, Jeffrey, Jayden, Orion, Connor, Reese, Cooper, Natalie, Lily and Turner; four great-great grandchildren: Camille, Sawyer, Henry and Aspen; sisters-in-law, Virginia Mullins of Denver, Colorado, and Opal Johnson of North Carolina; brothers-in-law, Cecil (JoAnn ) Ehlers of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Wes Ehlers of Apache Junction, Arizona; many nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.

Her funeral is at 11 a.m., today, April 6, from Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior, with Todd Allen officiating. The family requests those attending wear casual attire.

Music is "Whispering Hope," "Supermarket Flowers" and "Better Mama's."

Visitation was held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family present to greet friends

Pallbearers are Dale, Dean, Darwin, Delton, Dalane and Davon. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.

Interment is in the Webber Cemetery at Webber.

Memorials are suggested to go to the family to be designated later.
