Edith Hope (Mullins) Ehlers, the daughter of William Joseph and Beulah Opal (Paul) Mullins, was born on June 6, 1929, in Superior, Nebraska. She died March 30, 2023, at the Superior Good Samaritan Society at the age of 93 years, 9 months, 24 days.

Hope grew up south of Superior on the Mullins Dairy Farm where she helped with the daily operations of the farm. She attended Valley View country school and was a 1947 graduate of Superior High School. While in high school, she played the trumpet and enjoyed many hours roller skating.
