Mankato City Library News
Upcoming programming at Mankato City Library includes another of Travis Cox’s Introduction to Fly-Tying on Tuesday, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Farmway Credit Union basement. The entrance is on the south side of the building. This program is free to the public and all tools and materials will be provided. The library thanks Farmway Credit Union for the use of their facilities and FishKS for use of their equipment.
At 11 a.m., Saturday, May 20, there will be a Grownups Storytime for adults. Funny stories and childhood favorites will be shared. Hot tea and muffins will be served. A pom pom gnome craft will be created. The public is welcome to join and bring along a favorite childhood storybook to show and tell or read if time permits.
The library is hosting an Orphan Train presentation by Curator Kaily Carson from The National Orphan Train Complex in Concordia, at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 17. This program is free to the public and will be presented in the library.
The library is also taking reservations for the Summer Onstage with Bethany Roe on the mornings of June 19 through June 30 in the Mankato Community Center meeting room. This is a free theater and acting program for youth in age groups 3 to 4, 5 to 7, and 8 to 11. Call the library at 785-378-3885 to reserve a space as there are still openings. Each class is limited to 20 students.
Mankato City Library has added some new materials to circulation. In adult fiction: “Stone Maidens” by Lloyd Devereux Richards, and “A Healer’s Promise” by Misty M. Beller have bee added.
In adult non-fiction, you can find: “Broke Millenial Takes on Investing: A Beginners Guide to Leveling Up Your Money” by Erin Lowry; “I Will Teach You to Be Rich” by Ramit Sethi; “Andy & Don: The Making of a Friendship and a Classic American TV Show” by Daniel de Vise; The Gifts of Imperfection: 10th Anniversary Edition” by Brene Brown; “8 Rules of Love: How to Find It, Keep It, and Let It Go” by Jay Shetty, and “The Ship of Dreams: The Sinking of the Titanic and the End of the Edwardian Era” by Gareth Russell.
DVDs that have been added include: The Boy in the Plastic Bubble, The Brady Bunch Variety Hour, The Brady Bunch in the White House, It’s Always Fair Weather, Red, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
In juvenile fiction, additions are: “Turtle Boy” by M. Evan Wolkenstein; “Wherever You Go, I Want You to Know...” by Melissa Kruger, “The Moon Speaks” by Jason G. Duesing, “More Than Fluff” by Madeline Valentine, “Rissy No Kissies” by Katey Howes, and “The Good Song: A Story Inspired by ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ ‘What a Wonderful World’” by Alexandria Giardino.
In juvenile nonfiction, new additions are: “Read and Share Bible: More Than 200 Best-Loved Bible Stories” by Gwen Ellis, and “You Are My Friend: The Story of Mister Rogers and His Neighborhood” by Aimee Reid.
The next library board meeting will be at 5 p.m., Monday, at Mankato City Library. The public is welcome to observe the meeting.
