Code enforcement officer receives complaint about dogs

The Jewell City Council met in regular session last Monday at City Hall. Those in attendance were Mayor, Darrell Bohnert; council members, Josh Burks, Max Burks, Gaye Daniels, Derek Birdsell and Kristie Anderson, city clerk.

Mayor Bohnert called the meeting to order.

Don Jacobs, Jewell County sheriff, was absent.

James Reed, code enforcement officer, was present and said he was been receiving a complaint about dogs.

Kristie Anderson presented the monthly clerk’s report. Anderson said the annual ARPA report is due on April 31. Anderson also gave an update on the community center and motel reservation for the month of April.

David Knappert was absent but submitted the monthly maintenance report. Knappert reported the motel hot water tank is needing a thermostat. Knappert told about the projects he is going to be working on this month.

The Land Bank Board provided the minutes of their last meeting.

In unfinished business, Mayor Bohnert said Jesse Williams will be pouring the concrete at the Emerson Lake this week.

In other business, Anderson presented the Fair Housing Proclamation. It was approved. The two new applicants for the library board of trustees and also to reappoint the current five board members was approved. Anderson presented the library budget. The council talked about having a library board member explain amounts. Anderson also presented S. Bohnert’s building permit. It was approved.
