The Elk Creek Country Club's new clubhouse was officially completed on March 27. The new facility has all new appliances, four TVs, multiple feet of counter space with plug-ins, a new built-in cooler, 11 round tables, 120 chairs and two stalls in the handicap-accessible restrooms.

The Elk Creek Country Club, located at the south edge of Nelson, has a new clubhouse.

The board of directors made the decision to undertake the construction of a new building last year. Plans were finalized and a contract was let for the new building.

Ken Rempe, club manager, showed off the new facility to this reporter.

The new building features windows along the east and north sides overlooking the course.

The front of the building features a covered porch. The side patio had benches and an area for grills.

Upon entering the building, one encounters the ADA compliant restrooms. A turn to the right and you enter the main room of the building. The north wall is home to a full service bar as well as a long countertop with cabinets located above. The bar features both a reach-in cooler as well as a large walk-in cooler. A stove is located next to the counter area. There are numerous outlets to accommodate roasters and slow cookers for various events.

The main room will seat up to 120 guests at 15 round tables.

Four large screen televisions ranging from 65 to 80 inches line the walls. There is also a large screen television located behind the bar.

The facility features an office as well as storage space.

Rempe is looking into options for expanded food offerings. The use of air fryers is being considered as they are a versatile means of preparing a variety of dishes.

The course is open for play year round with weather being the limiting factor for play.

The nine-hole course features artificial grass greens. The fairways present a challenge to the players, no matter their experience level. Tight, tree lined fairways test the skill of one and all.

Memberships are available for both families and individuals. Daily play fees are $10 for green fees and $10 per nine holes for cart fees.

There are 72 cart sheds located at the club with charging outlets for electric carts.

The club has 10 rental carts available for daily players. The club has a nine member board to oversee operations.

The club has a membership list of more than 110 members from across Nuckolls County and beyond. Rempe advised the course is shaping up well for play. The lack of moisture has presented issues for all the area courses but Rempe is optimistic that April showers will alleviate the problem.

The club hosts a couples league over the summer. There are events scheduled from May through September that appeal to every level of golf skill. Rempe and club members welcome the opportunity to show off their new building to area golfers.
