Brodstone Healthcare implements nurse recognition award
Brodstone Healthcare announced the implementation of an ongoing recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful and compassionate care that nurses provide every day, The DAISY Award.
The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program designed to say “thank you” to nurses everywhere.
The nonprofit DAISY Foundation was established by the family of and in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombo- cytopenic Purpura (ITP). The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this means of thanking nurses for making a difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
DAISY honorees are nominated by patients and families and chosen by a committee of their peers. Each year, a Brodstone Healthcare nurse will be selected from the nominations received. The DAISY Award will be presented to the honoree and the presentation will include colleagues, physicians and even patients. The honoree will receive a certificate, DAISY pin, a beautiful sculpture called A Healers Touch, a bouquet of daisies and cinnamon rolls to share with their department, commending them for being an extraordinary nurse.
The work the nurses at Brodstone Healthcare are called on to do every day epitomizes the purpose of The DAISY Award. You may submit a nomination for an extraordinary nurse at Brodstone Healthcare by filling out a form posted throughout the hospital or scanning the QR code below to submit an online nomination form.
