L-N golf team adds another first place win

 


The Lawrence-Nelson High School golf team picked up another first place finish last Tuesday. They were in the top spot at the Cyndi Peil Scramble hosted by Blue Hill High School and played over the Red Cloud Golf Course.

The Raiders finished in fifth place, with a score of 323, at the Hastings St. Cecilia Invitational, Thursday. The contest was played over the Southern Hills Golf course. Other teams playing were Grand Island Central Catholic, Adams Central, Doniphan-Trumbull, Sutton, Wood River, Sandy Creek, Hastings St. Cecilia, Fillmore Central, Thayer Central, Franklin, Fullerton and Hastings High School.

The scramble format features two-player teams which hit their best shot to make the putt to close out the hole.

Lawrence-Nelson finished on top of the 18-hole event with an 18-hole total of 223 for three teams of two. Other teams at the event were Red Cloud, Heartland, Exeter-Milligan, Deshler, Superior, Bruning-Davenport-Shickley, Silver Lake and Blue Hill.

The team of Bayln Bargen and Toby Kotinek shot a round of 72. Connor Janda and Krayton Kucera left the 18th hole with a round of 72. Jacob Kathman and Clay Williams carded a round of 79.

The junior varsity team of Keaton Mazour and Wyatt Hajny listed a round of 85.

Kotinek and Kucera shot the low rounds of 88 for the 18-hole event. Kathman posted a round of 93. Williams was in with a round of 104.

The Raiders compete at the Twin Valley conference tournament today (Thursday). The event is being played at the Red Cloud Golf Course. Lawrence-Nelson travels to Franklin Tuesday for the Franklin Invitational.
