Indian museum will host rendezvous

The American Mountain Men Pawnee Rendezvous will be held at the Pawnee Indian Museum State Historic Site southwest of Republic from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 3.

Area residents are invited to participate in this special event recalling the gathering where Native peoples, trappers and traders met to socialize, trade and purchase supplies.

The American Mountain Men’s encampments present living history reenactments. Those attending are encouraged to interact and ask questions.

Not only is the rendezvous and educational experience, it is a free experience.

Rendezvous day will be the last day the bison truck visits the museum. The truck, on loan from Topeka, shows ways bison were utilized by the Native Peoples. Currently at the museum, it is scheduled to remain there through June 3.

Admission to the rendezvous and the museum is free this year.
