Nelson Red Cross Blood Mobile collects 46 units

The Red Cross Blood Mobile visited to Nelson last Thursday.  For the first time since the COVID 19 epidemic, they came full staffed plus extras.  Donors were able to get in and out in less than an hour. The donors didn’t even have time to sit down and rest before they were called up!  That’s the way it’s supposed to work!

Those who donated at a Red Cross Blood Drive between May 1 and 19, should watch their email for a $10 gift card.

Donors help save as many as three lives with each donation.  Forty-six units were collected to help with the national shortage. After the needs are met at local hospitals, donations may be sent to  hospitals out of state.

Several donors met their personal milestones.

Keith Parkinson was a first time donor.  These are always needed, since so many can no longer donate because of health issues.

Carol Buschkoetter and Ken Himmelberg have each donated 13 gallons.

Jeff Hutchinson is now a 11 gallon donor.

Brad Worman has reached his 10 gallon mark.

Deb Troudt,  9 gallons.

Alfred Hanson,  8 gallons.

Donna Jensen and Brenda Schott, 7 gallons.

Jackie Siebecker, 4 gallons.

Travis Pofahl, 2 gallons.

Brenda Carpenter, Jerry Grove and Mark Jurgena each 1 gallon.

Other donors were:  Ashley Wit, Chris Hansen, Jim Farmer, Brent Menke, Dale Kovanda, Kasey Vaughn,

Cindy Hewitt, Joe Mazour, Ramon Otero, Tom Bargen, Jan Menke, Tom Creps, Carla Jeardoe, Craig Cox, Peggy Meyer, Max VanSkiver, Sandra Schendt, Terri Oltmans, Marcia Schultz, Teresa Walton, Judy Corman,

Diane Gebers. Jenell Wood, Sally Uhrmacher. Lynn Culbertson, Wayne Petersen, and Kelly and Kendra Schiermeyer.

Betty McCutchan and DeAnna Tuttle, Nelson American Legion Auxiliary members, manned the lunch stand.

Mark your calendars for Monday July 10, when the Blood Mobile will be back in Nelson.

Sally Uhrmacher thanks every Red Cross Blood Drive Donor for their donations and commitment to the Red  Cross. After serving as Red Cross Volunteer Blood Drive coordinator for the past 15 years, she has decided to step back. If willing to serve as the next coordinator for Nelson, call 866-984-3494 for more information.
