L-N boys golf off to state meet

 

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, yup . . . for the seventh time this golfing season the L-N Raiders have won another championship trophy. And, they are happy to do so. The five Raider varsity golfers who took part in the District Golf Tournament last week in Grand Island proudly, and happily, show off the championship plaque and medals after they bested 12 other team at the event. The 2023 golfers to take part in the State Meet are shown above: (from left) Toby Kotinek, Bayln Bargen, Connor Janda, Krayton Kucera and Jacob Kathman. Coach Jerad Niederklein is on the right.

The Lawrence-Nelson High School boys golf team finished in first place, with a team score of 335, at the District D-1 state qualifying meet played over the Indianhead Golf Course in Grand Island. The match was hosted by Heartland Lutheran.

Connor Janda led the Raiders with his 18-hole round of 74. He took the top medalist spot. Krayton Kucera was in with a round of 81 and the third place medal. Toby Kotinek carded a round of 82, good for the seventh place medal. Bayln Bargen shot a round of 98. Jacob Kathman had a round of 104. The four lowest scores comprise the team score.

The Class D state championship is being played over the Lake Maloney Golf Club course at North Platte Tuesday and Wednesday.
