Wilmer Bouray

 

Wilmer Garland Bouray, the son of John and Mae (Hobson) Bouray, was born on Sept. 20, 1933, on the family farm near Republic County, Kansas. He died on May 26, 2023, at Brodstone Healthcare at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 8 months, 6 days.

Wilmer attended Star Grade School in Jewell County, and was a Hardy High School graduate. He was united in marriage to B. Kaye Leece on Nov. 27, 1955, at her home. Four sons were born to this union. Wilmer was engaged in farming before being inducted into the United States Navy on Dec. 9, 1955, and was honorably discharged on Dec. 8, 1961, returning to the farm where they lived until they retired.

He was a member of the Hardy Community Club, Hardy Co-op board, Jewell County ASC committee, and Soil Conservation District.

Wilmer was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mark; his brother, Richard; and sisters, Genevieve Hull, Geraldine Osborne and Vivian Kintigh.


Survivors include his wife, Kaye; sons, Bradley (Jalonda) of Courtland, Brian (Sandy) of Monett, Missouri, and Kirk (Lisa) of McPherson, Kansas; seven grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren; and his brother, Lawrence, of Courtland, Kansas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

His funeral was held on at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 30, from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home in Superior with Todd Allen officiating.

Music was "One Day At A Time," with Stephanie Thayer as the soloist and Teresa Christensen as her accompanist.

Visitation was held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m.


Pallbearers were Darrin Bouray, Kyle Bouray, Nick Bouray, Dexter Bouray, Bailey Thompson and Bethanie Purcell.

Interment with military honors was in the Rosemound Cemetery near Republic, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to go to Brodstone Memorial Healthcare Foundation.
