County board delays Bostwick area bridge replacement

Nuckolls County Board

The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county courthouse in Nelson, Monday.

The county road department superintendent outlined the priority bridge projects for the upcoming year. It was agreed that the material bid for several of the projects, which will consist of placing tubes rather than bridges, be listed as a bundle for more competitive pricing. The department expects delivery of it’s new loader in the near future. The decision to replace a bridge west of Bostwick was put on hold to ensure the necessary financing was in place.

The county courtroom was a busy location. Routine cases heard included traffic violations and vicious dog cases. The individual responsible for the ruckus at Superior Bowl last month was in court. He is being detained as he faces a felony and three misdemeanor charges. He has a court appointed attorney. He will make his next court appearance in July. Once again, there was a number of juvenile cases waiting to be heard.

The board will meet weekly until mid-August for budget preparation. The board will meet at 8:30 a.m., Monday, at the courthouse.
