Another load of rock to be purchased

 

For the first time since it was paved in the early 1990s, the four miles of Y Road on the north side of Lovewell Lake will get a complete overlay. Jewell County Road Department is using asphalt cold mix for this major capital improvement project.

The Jewell City Council met in regular session last Monday at City Hall. Those in attendance were Mayor Darrell Bohnert; council members, Josh Burks, Max Burks, Gaye Daniels, Bob Freeman, Derek Birdsell and Kristie Anderson, city clerk.

James Reed, code enforcement officer, was absent but provided a written report. He continues to work with property owners to abate nuisances.

Kristie Anderson presented the monthly clerk's report. Anderson asked what day would the council like to have the July meeting on. Anderson also said she is getting the information gathered for the budget prep. She gave an update on the community center and motel reservation for the month of June.

David Knappert was absent but provided a monthly maintenance report. He said Grand Street is getting another load of rock. It was approved to purchase one more load of rock. The council asked that David cut down the tree north of the City Park restrooms and also the tree on the northwest side of the park by the end of the month, Knappert wrote about the projects he is going to work on this month.

Land Bank Board provided the minutes from their last meeting.

Bohnert reported J. Rice was managing the Jewell Public TV and Radio Station and Kristie Anderson would take over managing the station. Anderson mentioned needing to transfer the money from the Schafer 6 month CD into the checking account. The council approved the transfer.
