Salem Lutheran Church women welcomed Bike Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) Riders on Wednesday, June 7, as they passed by on Highway 14 on their way to Hebron from Red Cloud. Wednesday was day four of the week long ride that started at Benkelman. Water, ice, fruit juice, protein bars and home baked goodies were available to the riders who were especially thankful for the restroom facilities.
It was a beautiful if somewhat warm day and the women enjoyed visiting with the riders of all ages. Several out of state riders were part of the group including those from Colorado, Iowa, Kansas and Indiana. A very tired 9 year-old girl and a lively 75 year-old gentleman who had participated in the ride for more than 20 years are just a sampling of the interesting people the women met.
