The June monthly meeting for the Mankato Chamber of Commerce took place Wednesday June, 14, at Bobs of Mankato with 10 members and one guest present.
Haley Nelson gave an update on the membership drive. One new member joined last month bringing the total in dues income to $3,245.00 for this year. Pictures will be taken of the businesses who need them updated for the website.
Brian Shulda reported the Community Garden is really well kept this year.
The Threshing Bee will take place July 15. The chamber will sponsor the entertainment again with Savanna Chestnut and the Field Hands. The chamber also discussed the watermelon popping contest. It will take place following the parade roughly around 2:30 to 3 p.m. The chamber will supply 15 watermelons again and there will be two $10 Chamber Bucks certificates for the winners. Work will be done on the west gate. There will be four shifts. Members volunteered for the first two shifts from 7 to 9:30 a.m. - Trevor Elkins and 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Jason Ortman but volunteers are still needed from 12 to 2:30 p.m. and 2:30 to 4 p.m. If you are available to help work the gate at one of these times, please contact the chamber.
The Mother’s Day Luncheon took place May 14. There was $1,008 in income and $374.06 in expenses making $633 in profit. The chamber served around 100 people.
The chamber discussed the community birthday calendars. The chamber members at the meeting will help deliver them and the rest will be mailed. The deadline to order calendars this year is July 26. Listings can include; birthdays, anniversaries, meetings and events and in memory of. They will cost 25 cents per listing. Calendars can also be preordered for $5 per calendar. Order forms can be picked up and delivered to State Exchange Bank, Paul Wilson’s office, Hair & More, or Ortman Insurance. Brian Shulda is going to take an aerial picture of Mankato to use for the calendar’s picture.
The next meeting will take place Wednesday, July 12, at the Senior Center.
