Jewell County Fair begins this week

Allison Underwood, a Jewell County 4-H member, waters a flower garden as part of her 4-H plant science project. She will exhibit floriculture and horticulture at the Jewell County Fair. Her 4-H project was expanded this year as she worked at her family's Limestone Valley Garden Center.

It is once again time for the Jewell County Fair in Mankato. Fair activities for 4-H and FFA members, Scouts, and open class exhibitors began on Wednesday, July 5, at the Mankato Community Building with judging of foods, clothing, quilts and photography. The 4-H food stand will be open starting today (Thursday).

Open class exhibitors could register exhibits from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, and then today (Thursday morning), all exhibitors can register their items from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Judging will be held throughout the morning hours. Tonight, livestock will be checked in from 7 to 9 p.m.
