County Roads Plans ready for hearing

Nuckolls County Board

 


The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county courthouse in Nelson, Monday.

The road department presented the preliminary 1 and 6 year road plan. The plan addresses the issues the department seeks to remedy in the upcoming years. The 1 year plan items are the highest priority issues. There will be a public hearing Monday at 9:30 a.m. where county residents can offer their input.

The board denied a request from the Davenport Rural Fire District for a levy increase. This is a procedural action.

The board adjourned and reconvened as the Board of Equalization. They approved the county cemetery list prepared by Susan Rogers, county assessor.

The board heard tax protests filed by residents over the recent property valuations. The board made no determinations at this meeting.

Protests heard were filed by Floyd Rothfuss, Jerry Karmazin, Daymian Kimberly, Mike and Pam Bower, Dick Schwieger, Dick Schwieger and Karen Happ Schwieger, Craig Hale, Ray and Sheryl Dieatrick, Kellie Neill, Paul and Cindy Thornton, James Oltmans and Diane Berkley. The board will issues their determinations Monday.

The board will meet at 8:30 a.m., Monday, at the county courthouse.
