Nuckolls Co. Fair starts Monday

It's fair time in Nuckolls County.

 


The 148th anniversary fair is officially scheduled to run Monday through Saturday on the fairgrounds at the south edge of Nelson, However 4-H events start today and will continue through all of next week.

Three nights of rodeo and a concert are planned for the grandstand.

The Rocking Plus Rodeo Company will produce the professional rodeo on Thursday and Friday with the Nuckolls County Rodeo Queen crowned before the start of Thursday's rodeo.

Thursday is Wear Pink Night with the goal of stomping out cancer.

Stoney LaRue and Adam Doleac will headline a concert in the grandstand on Saturday night. Tickets for the concert may be purchased online or at select Nuckolls County businesses.

The always popular kids rodeo starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Inflatables and RockIT event activities will be available for the youngsters on Thursday and Friday.

Clean up and payout will be Sunday afternoon. Awards night will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday.

The fair is scheduled for later in the summer this year. In recent years it has been held in early July. In the early years of the fair it was a September event with special trains bringing in the crowds on the two railroads which served the fairgrounds.

Visitors to this year's fair will want to check out the new barn and other improvements to the grounds.
