Davenport Public Library announces winners of chess tournament

 

Davenport Public Library sponsored the Davenport Achievement Day Chess Tournament. Those who participated include Hanna Perring, Bob Reinke, Max Jueneman, Noah Burger, standing up front; Willam Jessop. Thomas Jessop, Brent Jessop, Edward Jessop and not pictured Burke Priest. Davenport area residents are encouraged to visit the library and sign up for a Davenport Public Library card at no cost which will be required to utilize the online Nebraska Libby system.

Davenport Public Library announced the winners of the Davenport Achievement Day Chess Tournament. Entrants came from Davenport, Edgar Deshler, Marysville and Sioux City. Play was by round robin with a time limit of 15 minutes for each game.

Undefeated in play was Thomas Jessop age 13 of Edgar. Second place was his father, Brent Jessop. Third place was William Jessop age 11. Fourth place was Noah Burger age 20 from Davenport. Some of the participants will be competing this weekend in the Cornhusker State Games at Southeast Community College, in Lincoln.

Davenport area residents are encouraged to visit the library and sign up for a Davenport Public Library card at no cost which will be required to utilize the online Nebraska Libby system.

Nebraska Libby is a web-based digital media platform that enables library patrons to download popular digital audiobooks and eBooks from a customized library website. eBooks and audiobooks can be checked out and downloaded to all major computers, tablets, and smartphones, and are automatically returned to the collection when the checkout time expires. The library has several laptops that can be checked out if residents do not have their own device.
