Juveniles accused of garage burglaries being held for court

August 24, 2023

Two juveniles were detained after a rash of garage burglaries in Superior Friday night. At least six, and possibly up to nine structures were burglarized before they were apprehended. They were transferred to the Northeast Nebraska Juvenile Center, Madison.

The two appeared via a Zoom hearing from the detention facility at the county courthouse in Nelson Monday.

Michael Burns, Nuckolls County judge, conducted the hearing. After hearing from John Hodge, county attorney, defense attorneys for the two as well as state probation officers, Burns ordered the two to remain in custody until their hearing set for Monday, Sept. 18.

This was not the first or second brush with law-breaking for the duo. Burns ordered them held as a serious threat to the community. Each of the two were charged with six counts of burglary, criminal mischief as well as other charges.

Brad Baker, county sheriff, reported a handgun taken in an earlier burglary was recovered.
