David Sugars

David Allen Sugars, the son of Ray and Vivian Sugars, was born March 31, 1957, in Albany, New York, and died Sept. 2, 2023, in Chester, Nebraska, at the age of 66 years, 5 months, and 1 day.

He moved to Chester where he grew up and attended school. On April 7, 1975, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Thompson. To this union was born, Jennifer and Jason.

David served with the US Army and later the National Guard.

He was a truck driver, owner and operator for many years. He also drove for various truck lines. David enjoyed music, writing poetry and had written a poetry book.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Vivian Sugars; his wife Mary E. Sugars in 2021; and one brother, Richard Sugars.

He is survived by one son, Jason (Hannah) Sugars of Scandia, Kansas; one daughter, Jennifer (Jay) Mack, of Liberty Hill, Texas; two grandchildren, Johnathan (Ruth) Irvin of Elgin, Texas and Trinity Sugars of Scandia, Kansas; two brothers, Jim (Kolene) Sugars of Mound Ridge, Kansas, and George (Peggy) Sugars of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one sister, Cindy Quintana of Denver, Colorado; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

His funeral will be held at 2 p.m., (Thursday), Sept. 7, at the Belleville Wesleyan Church in Belleville with Pastor Mark McGregor, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Chester Cemetery, Chester, Nebraska, with military graveside rites conducted.

Friends could call from 1 until 6 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 6, at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, where the family greeted friends from 5 until 6 p.m.
