Brodstone offering hospital tour

After four years of planning and construction, the first phase of a hospital improvement project is ready for public inspection.

An advertisement in this issue of The Express invites area residents to a pre-opening walk through of the new addition from 9 to 12 Saturday morning.

The new addition includes 41,900 square feet of additional space with the top priorities being safety, security and privacy for the hospital’s patients.

The addition relocates the emergency department to the new facility with two dedicated trauma bays and an enclosed ambulance garage,

There are 17 new patient rooms; a new labor and delivery wing including suites and family waiting area; five private infusion suites in the new infusion center” and an added healing garden for patient and public use.

It is thought the new facility will be 30 percent more efficient than the current facility.

Now that work on the new facility is complete, remodeling of the existing hospital will begin. The current emergency room will be used by materials management and allow the hospital laundry to be done on-site.

The Brodstone Brew Coffee Shop serving Starbucks Coffee is opening.

The outpatient infusion center will offer a variety of infusion and injection services including antibiotics, chemotherapy, blood and blood products, chronic diseases medications and infusions for MS, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Crohns Disease; Osteoporosis medications, post chemotherapy hydration, IV hydration, IVG and monoclonal antibody infusions.

A special open house will be held for hospital employees today.
