RH homecoming this week

Rock Hills High School will be taking on Pike Valley at their Homecoming, Friday. Homecoming coronation is at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff is at 7 p.m.

Festivities include a bonfire at 8 p.m. this evening (Thursday) sponsored by Rock Hills FFA, a pep rally Friday at 2:15 p.m. in downtown Mankato and a homecoming dance Saturday from 8 to 11 in the junior-senior high commons area.

The following seniors were chosen by the student body to represent Rock Hills: Grace Ayers, Bella Volker, Hannah Simmelink, Abbey Schleifer, Justus White, Mason McMains, Coe Neilson and Carlton Wright.

Grace Ayers is the daughter of Lance and Angela Ayers. Grace plays volleyball, basketball and runs track. She is the senior class vice-president and FFA treasurer. Grace plans on attending Barton Community College to pursue a business degree.

Justus White is the son of Cindy Couch (pronounced Cooch) and Clint Luchtel. Justus plays football and is interested in scuba diving. He plans to join the workforce and move closer to family after graduation.

Bella Volker is the daughter of Cody and Renita Volker. Bella's extracurricular activities include being the RHHS cheer captain, FFA president, and president of the Junior Auxiliary Emory Clemons Unit 263 in Burr Oak. She is also a member in forensics, the all school play and theater department, scholars bowl and student council. She has taken many volunteer and internship opportunities. Two of her favorites have been being a Nex-Gen Intern for Possibilities during the summer and volunteering for Santa's Workshop. Bella plans on pursuing a degree in education and wants to be a junior high science teacher.

Coe Neilson is the son of Gail Neilson and Billy Neilson. Coe is active in RHHS school theater, plays football and wrestles. He plans to join the military after high school.

Hannah Simmelink is the daughter of Chad and Jennifer Simmelink. Hannah is senior class president, FBLA president and National Honor Society president. She participates in cross country, track, basketball, forensics, band and scholar's bowl. Hannah is seeking an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy where she will major in astronautical engineering.

Mason McMains is the son of Nate McMains and Tessa McMains. Mason participates in football and plans to join the workforce after graduation.

Abbey Schleifer is the daughter of Duane and Tanya Schleifer. Abbey is active in FBLA and school theater. She is also a member of Jewell Prairie Shooters and Jewell Community Youth Group. Abbey plans to attend college to become a social worker.

Carlton Wright is the son of Becky and Herman Fernandez and Dale Wright. Carlton helps his dad farm, helps his mom at the shop and enjoys fishing. Carlton plans on joining the workforce after graduation.
