JC Community Foundation announces new opportunities for nonprofit organizations

September 14, 2023

The Jewell County Community Foundation will launch its 5 to Go, 5 to Grow Initiative on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the Mankato Community Center at 6 p.m. A free supper and refreshments will be provided, along with a detailed presentation with more information on the initiative and Q&A afterwards. Several staff members from Greater Salina Community Foundation, along with the JCCF staff and board, will be available to answer questions.

2023 has been a year of milestones for JCCF. In March, this year’s match month brought in the highest amount raised in the foundation’s history. This success, made possible only by the support of Jewell County, helped JCCF receive additional matching funds through the Patterson Family Foundation. Then in August, the foundation celebrated its 5-Year Anniversary. To recognize these historic five years, JCCF is launching the 5 to Go, 5 to Grow Initiative. This is an opportunity for Jewell County nonprofits, or individuals interested in supporting nonprofits, to open a fund through the foundation to support nonprofits throughout Jewell County for years to come.

Here’s how it will work: The minimum to open a fund is $10,000. The initial $5,000 to “go” comes from you, your organization, or a collective group of individuals, while the remaining $5,000 to “grow” will be matched by JCCF, thanks to the match funds made possible by the Patterson Family Foundation. Under an Organization Fund, a nonprofit will have two accounts – an endowed fund that will grow over time for long term support and a non-endowed fund for instant access to meet immediate needs. A Designated Fund is an endowed fund supporting a specific organization or multiple organizations.

Interested organizations will be required to fill out an application detailing how their nonprofit benefits the community and how they will help the fund continue to grow after this initial investment. Interested individuals wanting to establish a designated fund will also fill out an application. Applications will be reviewed and selected by the JCCF Board. Please keep in mind, not all applications are guaranteed approval.

All who are interested are invited to attend.
