Roger Finke

Roger Allen Finke, 77, of Deshler, died Sept. 9, 2023, at Lakeview Living in Firth. The son of William and Edna (Weiss), Finke was born at Kiowa, Nebraska, Jan. 23, 1946.

Roger attended Bethlehem Lutheran School rural Kiowa and St. Peter Lutheran in Deshler and graduated from Deshler High School with the Class of 1964.

After graduation, Roger went to Texas and worked for Texas Instrument. Returning home, he worked for Deshler Roller Mills and Ray Mausoleum until they closed. He then worked for Reinke Manufacturing in Deshler until his retirement. Hoping to stay busy. he helped Tyler Fangmeyer shingle houses.

Roger was a member of the Deshler Volunteer Fire Department for more than 35 years, and St. Peter Lutheran Church. During his six years living at Lakeview Living, he served as resident council oresident.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald, Darrel and Robert; and sister, JoAnn Jeppesen.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Scott Laaker (Roberta) of Deshler, and Mrs. Patrick Arner (Amber) of Fairbury; brother, Norbert Finke of Deshler; sisters, Mrs. Lester Hineline (Lila) of Lincoln, Nebraska, Donna Hajek of Hastings, and Mrs. Mark Kujath (Judy) of Pickrell; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

His funeral was Tuesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Deshler. Officiant was Pastor Brian Francik.
