Pawnee Mental Health announced the following promotions and new hires in the community services department. Within this department, Pawnee has adult and youth programs available for consumers in its 10-county service area.

Leading the efforts of the community services department is Shelli Schottler, LMSW, as the director.

Terra Upham, LCP, has been promoted to community services assistant director. Upham has worked for Pawnee for 10 years, most recently serving as the youth community services supervisor for Pawnee’s eastern region. In her new role, Upham will support the community services director, oversee the clinical knowledge and services of adult and youth community services programs, and liaise with local mental health partners to enrich community collaboration.

Heather Benton has been hired as the adult community services supervisor for Pawnee’s eastern region. Benton will supervise the eastern region program staff in this position and ensure consumers’ needs are met. Benton worked at Pawnee from August 2014 to December 2016 before moving out of state. Prior to her return to Pawnee, Benton served as the executive assistant and program manager for HAVEN from Domestic Violence. Benton’s efforts focused on domestic violence prevention, intervention and crisis care, and community education.

Adult Community Services (ACS) offers a wide range of community services for adults with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI). Youth Community Services (YCS) is Pawnee’s comprehensive group of services and treatments that support children and teens with Serious Emotional Disturbances (SED) and their families.

Clients receive various services in the home and other places in the community as determined by their treatment plan. The ACS and YCS teams are critical groups of individuals responsible for all client care-related things.

The agency maintains a Jewell County office in the former Jewell-Mitchell Electric office in Mankato.
