SHS volleyball

The Superior High School volleyball team picked up a four-set, 22-25, 25-17, 25-18 and 25-17, win against Centura at Cairo last Tuesday. The Fairbury Jeffs left Superior with a three set, 31-29, 25-14 and 26-24, loss Thursday. The Wildcats went 2-1 at the Adams Central Invitational at Hastings Saturday. They downed Broken Bow 25-24 and 25-22, in two sets. They lost to the Malcolm Clippers, 18-25, 25-15 and 6-25, in three sets. They faced off against Centura for the second time in less than a week and came away with a two set, 27-25 and 25-20, sweep.

Superior opened play at the Hastings St. Cecilia Tournament Tuesday with match results unavailable at press time.

Reagan Meyers topped the Wildcat kill list with 13 against Centure. Ariana Heusinkvelt knocked down 11 kills. Teegan Duncan and Madison Heusinkvelt added seven kills each. Halle Bargen pushed down six kills. Cayce Barry listed two kills. Faith Butler and Mia Gardner had one kill apiece.

Bargen, Butler, A. Heusinkvelt and Meyers each scored with an ace.

Duncan lifted up 23 digs. Meyers was good for 17 digs. A. Heusinkvelt handled 16 digs. Bargen tipped up 15 digs. Butler finished the match with 10 digs. Gardner added eight digs. Barry had three digs while M. Heusinkvelt had one dig.

Meyers put down 11 kills against Fairbury. Duncan put away 10 kills. A. Heusinkvelt kicked in five kills. M. Heusinkvelt posted four kills. Bargen unloaded two kills while Gardner had one kill.

A. Heusinkvelt slid through three aces. Gardner lined through two aces. Bargen and Meyers each scored with an ace.

Bargen and Meyers cleaned up 16 digs each. Duncan came up with 15 digs. Gardner popped up 14 digs. Butler joined in with eight digs. Lily Edwards, A. Heusinkvelt and M. Heusinkvelt recorded a dig each.

Meyers dropped down 11 kills against Broken Bow, Bargen, Duncan and A. Heusinkvelt nabbed three kills apiece. M. Heusinkvelt added two kills with Edwards having one kill.

Meyers registered the lone Wildcat ace.

Bargen collected 15 digs. Butler and Duncan accrued 11 digs each. Meyers gathered six digs. A. Heusinkvelt came through with four digs. Edwards and M. Heusinkvelt had a dig apiece.

Duncan and Meyers posted four kills each against Malcolm. Bargen and A. Heusinkvelt came up with two kills each. Butler and M. Heusinkvelt finished the match with a single kill apiece.

Gardner slid through two aces. Duncan, A. Heusinkvelt and Meyers each scored with an ace.

Bargen was the lead digger with 15. Duncan found her way to 12 digs. Meyers dropped in with eight digs. Butler opted for five digs. Edwards and A. Heusinkvelt had a dig apiece.

Butler claimed 13 digs. Duncan reported 12 digs. A. Heusinkvelt boosted up 11 digs. Gardner fought for nine digs. Meyers mustered eight digs. Bargen came up with seven digs. Edwards dug the ball out three times. M. Heusinkvelt had two digs.

The Wildcats compete in the final round of the Hastings St. Cecilia Tournament today (Thursday) at Hastings. The team takes a well-deserved rest until Thursday, Oct. 5, when they entertain the Heartland Huskies at the high school gymnasium.
