Marcella G. Menke, 100, Lawrence, Nebraska, died on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at Heritage of Red Cloud, Red Cloud, Nebraska. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today (Thursday) at St. Stephen Catholic Church with Father Adam Sparling officiating and Mass will be at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 27, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Lawrence, with Father Corey Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Lawrence.

Visitation will be today (Thursday) from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence Visitation Chapel and one hour prior to mass at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at http://www.mertenbutler mortuary.com. Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska, is in charge of arrangements.

Marcella was born on Nov. 3, 1922, to Anton and Rose (Blume) Buschkoetter in Webster County. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School through the eighth grade and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1939. Marcella married Vincent H. Menke on April 27, 1944, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence. They made their home on the farm until moving into Lawrence in 1975. Marcella belonged to St. Stephen Catholic Church while on the farm and St. Stephen Altar Society of which she had held numerous offices. After moving into town, she belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Altar Society. They were members of the square dance club and loved to square dance. She belonged to the quilting club and loved to quilt.

Marcella is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Jean) Menke, and Richard (Judy) Menke, all of Lawrence; one daughter and son-in-law, Marlene (Jim) Kennedy, Omaha, Nebraska; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Menke, Kearney, Nebraska; one brother-in-law, John Hubl, Lawrence; one sister-in-law, Eileen Buschkoetter, Lawrence; 11 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one infant son, Terrance; one son, Lyle; one granddaughter; three brothers and two sisters-in-law; four sisters and three brothers-in-law.
