Shoebox gifts collected

November 13 through 20 was National Collection Week for Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts. Praise God! Superior and the surrounding towns donated 487 shoebox gifts this week. All the shoeboxes from the mid-Nebraska area were taken to Kearney on Monday where they were loaded on one big truck and sent to the Denver processing center to be prepared for international shipping.

Each box is filled with love which opens the child’s heart to hear about Jesus’ love. About three out of every five children who receive a shoebox come to believe in Jesus. As they share what they have learned with their family and friends, eight to 10 more people may also come to believe. So, our small area of Nebraska has the potential to bless more than 4,000 people with the shoebox gifts we sent.

We joined with people from all over our country and other sending countries to help reach the goal of sending 11,000,000 shoeboxes this year. Thank you to everyone who packed a shoebox gift or donated the 2,150 pallets to help transport the boxes. God uses anyone who is willing.

This Thanksgiving season we need to be extremely thankful. Two-thirds of the world’s children live in poverty so your gifts are treasured and truly make a difference. Every year there are more children in need so plan to pack a shoebox again in 2024. For information call Charlene Schultz at (402) 364-3149.
